Outdoor Christmas Decorations Sends A “Happy Holidays” To The Neighbors

There is no more famous scene in holiday movies than Chevy Chase playing a character named Griswold, lighting up the front yard and house with his holiday lights and outdoor Christmas decorations. It is such a popular scene about outdoor Christmas decorations that it is not uncommon to hear the term “Griswold” as a slang term for someone who completes and outdoor Christmas decoration display that is over-the-top for excessiveness.

There are many different ways to decorate for the holidays using outdoor Christmas decorations. The subtle but elegant icicle dangling lights that glow a soft white, making the house appear to having icicles hanging softly down from the gutters. These small lights are intended to gently light up the house with a soft welcoming glow to welcome guests in from the winter cold.

Another popular outdoor Christmas decoration is the nativity scene that replicates the night in Bethlehem when Jesus was born. Many of these nativity scenes vary from wooden statues to plastic forms designed to withstand the elements for many years.

While the style of outdoor Christmas decorations is a personal expression that celebrates the joy of the season, it is true that nearly everyone enjoys viewing all of the personal expressions. For those that are subtle or those that are excessive, beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. For someone that is subtle in their personal outdoor Christmas décor, they may truly enjoy viewing the wildly excessive displays in a neighborhood down the street. And, someone the truly enjoys covering their own yard and house with lights might artistically appreciate the quiet subtle beauty of icicle candles glowing in the darkness.
